A lot of people think that being stylish requires spending a fortune. It's not uncommon to hear comments like, "Oh, she's stylish because she's rich!" or "If I had the money of the celebrities, I would be too." And of course, it's true that famous people can invest in designer clothes and hire professionals to create amazing outfits, but style is not just about spending tons of money.

Do you think the same? Well, in this post, I'll show you that you don’t need to spend a fortune to have style and level up your looks!

Learn How to Thrift

Thrifting is definitely one of the best ways to find unique, stylish clothes that fit your budget! Thrift stores, bazaars, and even online second-hand shops like Enjoei are true treasures for anyone wanting to upgrade their look without spending much. However, when it comes to online shopping, it can be trickier because you can’t see the item up close, and sometimes prices are higher than at physical thrift stores.

When it comes to physical thrift stores, be prepared because it requires time and patience! My tip is to wear something comfortable and practical, like a neutral base, to make trying on pieces easier. And of course, always check the quality! Look at the label to see if the fabric is good (natural fabrics generally last longer), check for any defects like tears or stains, and pay attention to the fit. And lastly, try everything on—even the pieces that seem a bit dull on the rack—sometimes, items come to life when worn and paired with the right pieces.

Invest in Accessories and Shoes!

Accessories have the power to transform any basic outfit into something stylish and full of personality. Opting for bold pieces, accessories made of stainless steel (which don’t cause allergies and don’t tarnish), surrealist designs, or layering multiple accessories together can make a big difference in your look. But here's a golden tip: choose accessories that match your skin tone and the rest of your outfit. The wrong tone can make the look unbalanced instead of elevating it.

Investing in shoes is another great way to elevate your style. Some must-have options are boots, loafers, and ballet flats in neutral colors — they will go with almost anything! But don’t forget to pick quality shoes that you know you'll wear for a long time.

Focus on Essential Basics!

Essential basics are the most important step for anyone wanting to be more stylish. Imagine spending a lot on a dress for a wedding that you’ll never wear again? Or on trendy pants that don’t go with anything in your wardrobe and that you won’t wear again?

You must invest in essential basics—pieces made with quality fabrics that will last and can serve as the base for any outfit. Some examples of essential basics are neutral-colored tops, well-cut jeans, a black blazer that can be used as a layering piece, and so on!

Transform Your Clothes

Especially if you have old clothes that no longer fit or that you don’t like much, a great idea is to transform them! For example, you can turn a pair of pants into a skirt or a dress into something you actually like. You don’t need to have a lot of experience! Just search "Do it yourself" on YouTube or Pinterest, and you'll find tons of amazing ideas on how to transform your clothes, with step-by-step tutorials to guide you.

Color Combinations and Layering

An outfit always looks more interesting with a pop of color, whether it’s in the lenses of your glasses, a head accessory, a bag matching your shoes, a belt, and so on—especially if you tend to stick to black and prefer a more sober look. For those who enjoy something more vibrant, experimenting with monochrome looks can be a great start. With time, you’ll get more experienced mixing multiple colors in your outfit without it looking messy.

Layering, in my opinion, is the trickiest part. You need to try different combinations until you find the right one, and it might take time. With the essential basics, you can try several ideas, like pairing a shirt with a t-shirt, matching pants with a skirt, or throwing a blazer over a short dress. There are endless options, you just need to be patient and play with the possibilities!

As you can see, you don’t need to spend a fortune to have style, right? With a bit of creativity, research, and some tricks, you can put together amazing looks for much less!
