It's the beginning of the year, and as always, every place is filled with videos and posts talking about the trends for 2025. But of course, these are just predictions—fashion changes all the time, and what’s trending now might disappear next month. So, in this post, I'm going to tell you about the main trends that have been showing up in these forecasts, mixing insights from runway shows, content creators, my own predictions, and everything that's happening out there.

maximalism & layering

Maximalism in clothing and the creativity to experiment with layering will be big this year, mainly because maximalism radiates a sense of authenticity, and in 2025, we're all searching for exactly that—personal style and ways to stand out from those who simply follow microtrends. Plus, people are playing with wearing clothes the "wrong" way, like transforming a sweater into a summer top or even a skirt.

accessory customization

Decorating accessories and clothing, such as sneakers (adding jewelry, studs, or even piercings), bags and backpacks (with tons of keychains), belts, ties, and more, is gaining traction. A trend I’ve also been seeing a lot is customized tights with various unique designs—in some online stores, you can even send a photo, and they’ll create a custom pair just for you. This all ties into the search for authenticity, making accessories and outfits feel more personal and unique.

food-inspired colors

This year's official color has been revealed: Mocha Mousse—doesn't that remind you of food? If you’ve noticed, many of the trending colors for 2025 are named after food. Shades like butter yellow, tangerine, oat, cherry red, dark chocolate, cotton candy, pistachio, olive, and more are taking over. Using food aesthetics in fashion campaigns is also becoming a huge trend this year.

skinny silhouette

With the return of boho-chic, it’s no surprise that form-fitting silhouettes are back—skinny jeans, blazers, and fitted jackets are trending, especially since they’re key elements of rock-chic (a variation of boho) and boho-chic styles.

toes shoes

You’ve probably noticed those toe-separating shoes, right? Well, they’re making a comeback. Brands like Vibram FiveFingers, known for their glove-like footwear, are gaining attention, and celebrities like model Paloma Elsesser and rapper Doechii have been spotted wearing them.

Also, Balenciaga recently launched the Zero sandal, an ultra-light piece that almost makes you feel barefoot. These shoes, once mainly associated with sports, are now being styled in sophisticated outfits.

polka dots

The classic polka dot print is making a comeback this year, adding a vintage, fun, and romantic touch. Spotted frequently on the runways, polka dots are perfect for summer, making them a trend likely to shine during the warmer months. It’s one of those timeless prints that always finds its way back into fashion.

transparency & lace

Transparency has always symbolized sensuality, but when styled correctly, it can also bring elegance. Runway shows this season heavily featured this trend, with mesh tops, black and white sheer layers, and translucent fabrics adorned with sparkles, rhinestones, and delicate details. Lace, which has always been a staple in tights, is now expanding into dresses, skirts, tops, and even accessories, making outfits look both feminine and fashion-forward.

It’s important to remember that trends aren’t meant to be followed blindly. Instead, they’re here for you to have fun with and incorporate into your personal style—only if you want to—without losing your identity and authenticity.
